COVID-19 Mitigation Strategies

The Toronto City School District will implement prevention and mitigation strategies to stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus in the schools.  On September 16, 2021, the Toronto Board of Education reinstated the Face Covering policy requiring all persons entering district property including employees and students in grades K-12 to wear a mask beginning Monday, September 20, 2021.  The district strives to maintain three feet social distancing in all settings throughout the school whenever possible.  Students and staff are encouraged to wash and sanitize their hands frequently. High touch surfaces are frequently cleaned and disinfected.  Needlepoint ionization air filtration has been installed in all school environments to increase air filtration. HVAC setting are maximized to allow for increased ventilation. The School Based Health Center provides rapid COVID testing. Home COVID-19 test kits are available free of charge in each school clinic. COVID-19 vaccinations are available every Friday in the Toronto School Based Health Center.  For more information, please see the Safe Return to In-Person Instruction and Continuity of Services Plan.

COVID-19 Dashboard

The Toronto City School District is committed to accurate and transparent information regarding positive cases within our school district while adhering to the privacy and confidentiality of our students and staff.  If your child or a family member is being tested for COVID-19, we ask that your child remain home until you receive a negative test result or as directed by the local health department.  Parents are requested to notify your child’s school within 24 hours if your child has a positive case of COVID-19. Please notify the school nurse and/or attendance line to report a positive case. Parents will be notified directly only when their child is considered a close contact of a positive case within the school or co-curricular activity or athletic team.
The Toronto City School District COVID-19 Dashboard serves as notification to our community of school-associated COVID-19 cases in the district.  The data below is reported to the district and represents the most accurate count of new active cases among district students and employees as reported by parents and staff.  Some of these cases may be individuals who have not been present in our school buildings during their period of contagion.

Weekly COVID Report

The data is presented in two charts . The first chart provides a snapshot of the total number of employee and student positive cases of COVID-19 for the week . The second chart displays the total COVID-19 cases for the current week by location. This data will be updated every Friday.
