Guidelines for Establishing Individual Scholarships

  1. Scholarships can be given in memory of, honor of, or in the donor’s name.
  2. Minimum amount is $10,000, which secures a $500 scholarship each year, $20,000 secures a $1000 scholarship, etc.
  3. All monies funding the scholarship are collected by the THS Alumni Association.
  4. The funds will be invested by the board.
  5. Any other money later donated in the name of the scholarship will not increase the amount of the scholarship, once it has been established.
  6. The Foundation has the right to select criteria for scholarships – they will consider the donor’s request to a limited degree. Ex. – music, profession, etc.
  7. The Foundation makes all scholarship selections through a system established to meet IRS requirements for 503c classifications. The applications are assigned a number by the school administration in place of the applicant’s name to assure anonymity in the final selection.
  8. The Foundation may name one of its existing scholarships.
  9. The Scholarship name & donor name will be added to an Alumni Scholarship Plaque, located in the high school.
