The Toronto Board of Education met in special session Thursday, September 12 to hire Ann Silverthorn as the new principal at Toronto Elementary School. Ann is filling a position left vacant by the unexpected resignation of former principal Chris Dopp on September 3, 2019.
Ann has been employed by the district since 2001. She has worked as an intervention specialist, regular education teacher in kindergarten and fourth grades, and as a Reading Facilitator. She graduated from West Liberty College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Special Education and Elementary Education and from Marygrove College with a Master of Arts Degree in Education. Ann is licensed Intervention Specialist, Elementary Teacher, and Elementary Principal. She has completed specialized training for the Ohio Teacher Evaluation System and is MANDT certified. Ann and her husband Dick reside in Toronto with their two sons, Max and Andy, both students at Toronto Jr.-Sr. High School.
